Fauna Project

It was pleasantly sunny, chilly, and windy as a team of eight completed this week's survey. Finding the mangled remains of a long-dead cottontail gave us a chance to see one of the features that separates rabbits from rodents: While the latter have a single pair of upper incisors, the former have two pairs, with the smaller ones located directly behind the large ones, as shown below.
