In a Warm House

by Larry

in a warm house
there's fresh bread baking
in the evening a quiet time
with holding hands and shy smiles
looking deeply into your eyes
and yours into mine
and hide - nothing -
and we bring along in time
into this world
another struggling warm bit of life
to suckle to smile to laugh to cry
to sing to walk to run to learn
to love to grow and reach and touch
and hug and shout
words full of vitality and spirit
and wonder and awe
poetic visions big enough
to swaddle a world

No. 20 from Seeing Through the Heart II - a poetry series presented to Val on Valentine's Day, 1988.
