The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
Fauna Project

Eight volunteers contributed to this week's survey under cold and cloudy conditions. The Large Milkweed Bugs shown below belong to a family collectively called "seed bugs" due to dietary preferences. In spite of the fact that many seeds seem hard and dry, these insects puncture the outer covering to feed on the inner juices.
