The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
Fauna Project

A team of five participated in this week's survey under hot and sunny conditions. We've recently seen a lot of American Bumble Bees and the majority found in the Gardens are female workers. The first males of the year, which will mate with the future queens, have just appeared. Males (see below) are distinguished by their large size, all-yellow abdomen, and lack of pollen baskets.
