The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
Fauna Project

A team of six enjoyed cool, mostly cloudy conditions during this week's survey, in spite of occasional light rain which hampered photography. Mites are tiny arachnids related to spiders and ticks. Many are red and look quite similar, but they can have very diverse lifestyles, as shown below with a pollen eating mite on a flower and a parasitic species on a butterfly.
