Fauna Project

Six participants braved the very cold, windy morning to conduct this week's survey. Although it was sunny, the low temperature and very strong winds made invertebrates difficult to find, hence the short list this time. One notable sighting was the fruit fly shown below. The wing markings, when viewed from various angles, usually look like a jumping spider, and it is probable that this mimicry helps repel some predators.
