LARVALBUG LENS, July, 2007

This month our lens features our Wisconsin family members, (from left to right) Tiyeni, Amie, Vicky, Isabella, Tom, and Lucas, as they pause on their journey between Turtle Lake and a dog show in Ohio during late May, 2007. The site is the 5-mile Mackinac Bridge, located on Interstate 75 at the Straits of Mackinac and connecting Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Mackinac Bridge was, for its first 40 years, the longest suspension bridge between cable anchorages in the world. Now surpassed only by two bridges built in 1998 in Japan and Denmark, it still remains the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere.
