RESPONDING TO OUR LAST ISSUE...

Julia found the postcard shown here at left (reminiscent of Val's bottle opener), which she had purchased in 1947 while on her and Leon's first real vacation (that they thought of as their long-delayed honeymoon) since they had gotten married, shortly after the US entry into World War II.

She also mentioned the following picture, taken on that vacation at Yosemite National Park, in CA, which she says, like some of Larry's pictures from his Yellowstone trip, was an example of taking extra risks in the excitement of the moment. In order to assure a more dramatic photo, she had gone out beyond the railings, and says that, with one false step out on those rocks, she could have fallen to her death.
